Need to buy parts for this project? Most electrical components on MINI R56 models require programming using an advanced MINI scan tool when replacing. With that said, don't feel you can't replace these items yourself. You also have the option of swapping out used items, which will at times work without programming. I don't have experience with this method, due to my access to a MINI scan tool, but it is something to consider. I have been told programming of used items isn't always required, so this may be an option, but I cannot vouch for it working 100% of the time. If you have experience with used part installation, please share your experience, as it will help the Pelican Parts community.

MINI R56 models can come equipped with two types of amplifiers, depending on options -- stereo / HiFi amplifier and Top HiFi amplifier. The sound frequency output sent to the amplifier from the radio is dependent on the speaker configuration. Only the frequency range that can be effectively reproduced by the connected speaker system.
For example if high, mid and low-range speakers / woofers are connected to the amplifier, the frequencies for those components are sent. Stereo / HiFi amplifier HiFi amplifiers are amplifiers with active frequency gates. Active frequency gates achieve better acoustic results than passive frequency gates. The HiFi amplifier does not have speed-dependent volume adjustment or speed-dependent equalizing. The function of the HiFi amplifier is only to amplify the low-frequency output. Top HiFi amplifier The digital Top HiFi amplifier and the High End HiFi amplifier (AMPT) convert the digital audio signals transmitted from the radio to the MOST bus into analogue audio signals. The Top HiFi amplifier and High End hi-fi amplifier (AMPT) also receive the analogue signals from the Active Sound Design (ASD).
The combined and amplified audio signals are transmitted to the speakers. Computer Maintenance And Repair Manual there. Audio System Controller (radio / M-ASK / CCC) The Audio System Controller (ASK) is integrated in the radio / M-ASK / CCC control unit. The ASK manages all audio signals. Amplifiers The amplifier has four input channels and seven outputs. The amplifier has a separate power supply.
The amplifier is switched on by the RAD_ON signal from the ASK (>8 V = ON /. Comments and Suggestions: EdgarT Comments: hi i have a 2009 hard top, i was a problem with the alternator and i was fixed but now i put the radio and only work the speaker at the left side i check the balance and its normal in the normal position, any idea its if the probably is the amp?? I check the fuse July 11, 2018 Followup from the Pelican Staff: Yes, it is likely the amp. - Nick at Pelican Parts Tommy Boy Comments: I have a 2009 mini hardtop.
The radio does not power up. I check the fuses that are supposed to be for the radio, and they were ok. I hear that there is a fuse behind the radio, and I am not sure how to take it apart. I am told that Mini will charge about $500 to do the labor and replace the fuse.
That is a lot of money. I was wondering if there is another fuse that I am overlooking. The radio won't power up, when you leave the keys in the ignition, there is no beep to let you know that your keys are still in the ignition. If you don't have your seat belt on it does not beep, and when it is under 34 degrees out the signal for ice comes up but no sound.
It just makes me think there is a power fuse that is blown. If so, can you tell me which one, and give me the icon on the fuse panel that it is. It would be very much appreciated.
Thank you for your info. March 12, 2018 Followup from the Pelican Staff: Remove the radio, the fuse is at the rear. - Nick at Pelican Parts.
